If you’ve been bonding with Alice in Disney Dreamlight Valley (and who wouldn’t—she’s delightful chaos), you’ll unlock the Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest once your friendship hits level four. In true Alice fashion, things take a riddle-filled turn from the very beginning.
Table of contents
The first clue

Chat with Alice to kick things off. She’ll mention that before The Forgetting, she tucked away a treasure somewhere in the Valley. But, surprise! She can’t remember where.
Thankfully, she did write a cryptic little poem to help future-you track it down. The first line speaks of a “place of sunbaked pleasure.” Sounds like a job for Dazzle Beach.

Head over to Dazzle Beach and look around the area where it borders the Glade of Trust. Keep an eye out for a bottle poking out of the sand. Use your Royal Shovel to dig it up, and you’ll find another poem.
The second clue

The second clue talks about a “dark cavern alit with mystic lights.” That’s your cue to explore the cave along the cliffs in Dazzle Beach (the Atlantis-themed cave, not the one you found Ursula in once upon a time).

Once inside, you’ll spot clusters of colourful, flower-like creatures that look suspiciously like the Mome Raths from Wonders of Wonderland (though thankfully not as unruly). All you need to do is water each group as you move deeper into the cave.

At the bottom, you’ll find a highlighted fishing ring in the pool. Whip out your Royal Fishing Rod and cast your line. Reel in the next bottle, and with it, another clue.
Where to find the Jabberwocky’s Lair

Alice’s next poem hints at a “house of bark” with a “wooded yard”—that’s your clue to head to the Forest of Valor.
Venture to the back of the Forest. On the side with Elsa’s cave, there should be a hollow tree log on its side with eerie yellow eyes. The Valley’s own Jabberwock has come to play.
I found mine spawned right in the corner of the Forest of Valor. But yours may be elsewhere, depending on what furniture and decorations you have placed. Check around the entrance points to the Frosted Heights and you’ll find it.
Alice will try to retrieve something from the log but will get nipped by the creature. Even Wonderland pests don’t appreciate uninvited guests.
How to craft Wonderland Candles

To lure out the Jabberwock and soothe its territorial tantrum, you’ll need to craft a set of Wonderland Candles. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 Tinkering Parts
- 6 Glass
- 9 Coal Ore
- 10 Red Bell Flowers
- 12 Yellow Daisies
Once you’ve gathered your materials, craft the candles and place them around the Jabberwock’s log in the Forest of Valor. When you do, the yellow eyes will vanish, and a chest will appear in their place.
Ending the quest

Inside the chest is a whimsical kaleidoscope—Alice’s long-lost treasure. Give it to her, and she’ll get that nostalgic glimmer in her eye, even if she still can’t quite remember why she hid it.
Still, the mystery is part of the magic, and Alice hints that there may be more riddles to come in the future. Just like that, the Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest comes to an end. You’ve followed riddles, watered Mome Raths, outwitted a Jabberwock, and retrieved a forgotten treasure. Not bad for a day’s adventure in Dreamlight Valley. What’s next?
